English 5th - Unit 1 A / an / the/ zero article
GRAMMAR
A / AN (indefinite article)
We use "a" / "an" (indefinite article) with singular countable nouns when we want to talk about something that is new or not specific to a conversation. Ex. Do you want to see a film?
We also use it to talk about people's job. Ex. He is a teacher.
THE (definite article)
We use the definite article to talk about something specific or that we already know. Ex. This is the boy I talked to you about yesterday.
ZERO ARTICLE
When we talk about general things we usually use plural or uncountable nouns with no article (zero article). Ex. Lions are carnivore.
